VISIT TO KERALA KALAMANDALAM
VISIT TO KERALA KALAMANDALAM
The Government of India considers Kerala Kalamandalam to be the University of Art and Culture. It is a significant location for learning Indian performing arts, particularly those that originated in the Southern states of India, with a focus on Kerala. It is located on the banks of the Bharathapuzha river in the little town of Cheruthuruthi in the Thrissur District.
In addition to teaching the ancient orchestra known as Panchavadyam, Kalamandalam also teaches classical dance and theater genres such Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Kudiyattam, Thullal, Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, and Nangiar Koothu. Various percussion instruments including the chenda, maddalam, and mizhavu are also taught. Kalamandalam adheres to the gurukula sampradayam, a traditional residential Indian educational model. In order to train its pupils in the Gurukula Sampradaya, a long-standing custom of residential schooling in which students remained with the teachers, Kalamandalam was created. K G Paulose served as Kerala Kalamandalam's first vice chancellor in 2007; O.N.V. Kurup served as the organization's final chairman. M V Narayanan is the vice chancellor at the moment.
AITE organized a visit to this institution to observe and collect informations related with History, growth and development of this institution, on August 22, 2023, as a component of the B.Ed. curricular program to learn about Kerala's rich cultural history.
