ഇന്ത്യൻ സ്റ്റാറ്റിസ്റ്റിക്‌സിന്റെ പിതാവ് ആണ് പ്രൊഫസർ പ്രശാന്ത ചന്ദ്ര മഹലനോബിസ്. പ്രൊഫസറും ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനുമായ പ്രശാന്ത ചന്ദ്ര മഹലനോബിസിന്റെ സ്ഥിതിവിവരക്കണക്കിലും സാമ്പത്തിക ആസൂത്രണത്തിലും നടത്തിയ പ്രവർത്തനത്തെയും സംഭാവനകളെയും ആദരിക്കുന്നതിനായി എല്ലാ വർഷവും ജൂൺ 29 ന് ഇന്ത്യ ദേശീയ സ്ഥിതിവിവരക്കണക്ക് ദിനമായി ആചരിക്കുന്നു.

PI DAY CELEBRATION 2023

Pi Day is celebrated globally on March 14 (3.14) to commemorate the mathematical constant pi (π). The Department of Mathematics (SIGMA MAHEMATICS CLUB) at AITE Attur celebrated Pi Day celebration .Our college marked this occasion with great enthusiasm, promoting interest in mathematics and its applications. Aswin N Prakash welcomed everyone to the programme.Inaugural Speech delivered by our principal Dr.Shahana.A.M highlighting on the significance of mathematics in the daily life. Sheethal.P.S were delivered a speech highlighted the importance of pi in mathematics and its real-world applications.The event witnessed active participation from students and faculty members, fostering a sense of community and camaraderie. The celebration successfully promoted interest in mathematics and pi among students, highlighting its importance in various fields.The Pi Day celebration was a resounding success, achieving its objective of promoting mathematical awareness and enthusiasm among students.

FIBONACCI DAY CELEBRATION
The Fibonacci Day Celebration was held on November 23, 2023, to commemorate the mathematical significance of the Fibonacci sequence. The event, organized by the Maths Club (wezbalonza) . The event began with a welcome speech by the Roshni.K, who emphasized the importance of mathematics in our daily lives. Our beloved principal Dr. Shahana.A.M were inougurated the event, highlighted the significance of the Fibonacci sequence. After the inouguration, a presentation was made by Ardra.K, showcasing the fascinating appearances of the Fibonacci sequence in nature, art, and architecture. The presentation was engaging and informative, sparking the interest of the students.The celebration concluded with a vote of thanks, delivered by Husna.P, who expressed gratitude to the Principal, teachers, and students for making the event a success. The event was a memorable experience for all participants, inspiring a deeper appreciation for the beauty and significance of mathematics.

On 22nd December 2023, the Webzalonza Maths Club from the Mathematics Option organized a Photography Competition under the theme "Maths in Daily Life," as part of the celebrations for National Mathematics Day. The event aimed to highlight the significance of mathematics in our everyday activities and how mathematical concepts are applied in real-world scenarios. Students from various departments participated, including myself, capturing images that creatively demonstrated the presence of mathematics in everyday life, such as patterns, symmetry, geometry, and measurements.
The competition received a range of captivating and thought-provoking photographs. Hari Dev from the Physical Science Option secured the first position for his creative depiction of mathematical principles in nature, while Aswani from the Natural Science Option placed second, and Misna, also from Natural Science, claimed the third position. Their photographs effectively conveyed the beauty and relevance of mathematics in the world around us, from architectural designs to natural patterns like the Fibonacci sequence in plants.
Reflecting on this event, it was an enriching experience that allowed participants to merge artistic expression with mathematical understanding. For me, it was a chance to explore the connections between the two seemingly distinct fields—art and mathematics—while deepening my appreciation for the subject. The event not only showcased the creativity and talent of the participants but also emphasized the importance of integrating mathematics into everyday life. This competition, as part of our B.Ed. curriculum, enhanced our skills in both photography and mathematical thinking, encouraging us to recognize the relevance of mathematics in the world around us, an important aspect to share with our future students.
