WORLD SPACE WEEK CELEBRATION  2023


World space week is an international celebration of science and technology and their contribution to the betterment of human condition. The United Nations General Assembly declared in 1999 that World Space Week will be held each year from October 4-10.

As a part of World Space Week (WSW) the students of science club, Arafa Institute for Teacher education, Attur conducted a Quiz completion under the guidance of Ms. Rekha K (Asst.Prof, Physical science). Sreelakshmi P from science club welcomed everyone to the program. Athira V M a student from science club delivered a talk on “Importance of Space Week”. Sreelaksmi P and Shibi N were the Quiz Masters and they led the program to a great success.  

There were 4 groups from Mathematics, Social science, English and natural science departments who were enthusiastically participated in quiz competition. Each groups comprised of 4 members. The quiz was conducted as two sections and several rules were provided. If the group members failed to answer, then the question were forward to the audience. Score marking was done by Devika P and Asna Ashraf students of Physical science department. Team Mathematics and Social Science entered into the final section. After a tight competition team mathematics won the title. Social science fixed the second position. Shamseena P M from natural science option and Sandra K from English option won prizes from audience side. Prize was distributed by the teachers. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by Shibi N. Overall the program was a great success.

NATIONAL SCIENCE DAY

                                        

The National Science Day   was celebrated on February 28 at Arafa Institute for Teacher Education , Attur with befitting programs.
 The programme was organized by the Physical Science Department and Science Club. The theme of 2024 for the National Science Day is “Indigenous Technology for Viksit Bharat.” The theme focuses on the promotion of science and technology among the public and enhances their practical thinking of Science and technology. The program was presented based on this.

                                      
The National Science Day celebration was rich in a variety of programs. Sruthi C, a student from the Department of Physical Science delivered the welcome speech. She introduced to the audience that national science day is being presented to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect (inelastic scattering of photons by matter) by Sir C.V. Raman and the theme of 2024 National Science Day.Then there was a video presentation about the contributions of Indian scientists, India's achievements in the field of science and about the importance of science in daily life . Later Saparya gave a lecture on Sir C V  Raman and Raman Effect.

                                      

The event was concluded with a vote of thanks by Varsha Gopinath  .The day by the way it was conducted gave emphasis to the importance of scientific temper and scientific attitudes in daily life.

REPORT ON EXHIBITION -  
WORLD SPACE WEEK 2024

              

On October 9, 2024, the Physical Science Department of Arafa Institute for Teacher Education conducted a event in celebration of World Space Week 2024, featuring an exhibition and the inauguration of the Science Club. The event was organized to align with the global theme of this year's Space Week, "Space and Climate Change."

                                   

The day began with a general assembly, where Program Organizer Ms. Fathima Nijiya gave an introduction, outlining the importance of World Space Week and providing details about the exhibition. Following the introduction, Mr. Mohamed Shahin TP took the floor to elaborate on the theme "Space and Climate Change." He emphasized how advancements in space technology and exploration contribute to monitoring and mitigating climate change on Earth. Program Organizer Ms. Fathima Nijiya invited the College Principal, Dr. Shahana A.M , and the Club President, Ms.Shibla, to unveil the name of the club. Principal unveiled the club’s name by unfolding a poster in front of the gathered audience.



The second session of the event was exhibition. With the collective efforts of all the students from the Physical Science Department, the exhibition was set up in the Physical Science option classroom.The exhibition featured a variety of models, displays, and interactive demonstrations related to space and climate science. The exhibition was conducted in the afternoon, with students from all departments visiting the displays during their allotted times.

                                       

The World Space Week celebration, combining the inauguration of the Science Club and the exhibition, was a resounding success. The exhibition was highly praised for its quality, and the launch of the Science Club promises to pave the way for future scientific exploration and activities at Arafa Institute for Teacher Education.
